Swara Bhasker is enjoying a blissful motherhood experience and celebrating each festival with much enthusiasm, glimpses of which are often dished out on Instagram. This Diwali, it is going to be Dilli-wali for the actress, as she is stationed in the capital since the birth of her daughter Raabiya, who was welcomed in September this year. Enthusiastic into her first Diwali post-wedding and as a new mother, Swara gives an insight about the special celebration.
How does it feel to celebrate your first Diwali post wedding and that of Raabiya’s too, what are your plans?
Yes, this is a milestone Diwali and a double whammy as it’s our first Diwali after shaadi and it’s also little Raabiya’s first Diwali.Obviously we are excited. I’m in Delhi since my delivery so it’s an intimate home scene. Fahad is coming from Bombay to be with us on this special day. The AQI in Delhi is quite hazardous andRaabu is only 7 weeks old so we are obviously avoiding any outings. It’s going to be a cosy intimate home scene with family and close friends.
You have been sharing several glimpses of all rituals of Raabiya on social media, any ceremonies for the first Diwali?
Like everyone in India celebrating, we also do a Lakshmi Puja at home before lighting up the house with diyas and lights. Raabu’s going to wear her first lehenga on the day and like all new moms I’m excited about every small and big thing related to her!
You championed interfaith marriage and we have seen Fahad being involved in all traditions, how thrilled is he for Diwali?
He’s very excited and he’s coming to Delhi for Diwali with my family. Coincidentally we’ve spent the last two Diwalis together at house parties but we were ‘just friends’ then, so this year is a big leap into marriage and parenthood! The advantage of a mixed marriage is that they’re always more reasons to celebrate and share joy and amazing food! Double the celebrations, double the fun!
